Chillingham Castle paranormal activity

                                                        

Chillingham castle is in Northumberland. The castle has been owned by the Earls Grey family since the 1200s. It’s been said many times that chillingham castle is one of the most terrifying and haunted castles in the UK. And by far my favourite.

It’s said that there are many ghosts that haunt Chillingham castle but the most famous ghost is ‘’the blue boy’’. People say he haunts the castles pink room.

At midnight you can hear cries of pain and pure terror from inside the passage wall. This poor young boy got treat terrible. Many people have reported to have seen this young boy with a blue light/glow around this boy. He sounds really distressed.

A spirit lady who haunts the pantry appears very white and begging for a drink of water.

The torturer john sage has been reported to haunt Chillingham Castle.

Lady Mary Berkeley is reported to walk the passage ways/corridors, disappointed and heartbroken that her husband ran away with her very own sister. It’s as if she’s waiting for her husband, who she believes will come back to her one day. You can still hear her silk dress along the corridors.  Lady Mary Berkeley lived in the castle from 1660 till 1685. To date she’s the most seen ghost at chillingham castle.

Lady Tankerville, also known as Leonora haunts the castle. She often expresses other haunting stories with people that visit chillingham castle.

Many people have heard a conversation between two men inside the chapel.

Hissing noises have been heard when people walk through the castle. There are also cold spots and drafts in areas in the castle.

From inside the torture chamber many orbs have been caught on camera. Documents from the Spanish armada were also found inside the wall where the young boy was unearthed. When the young boy’s body was examined the bones on his fingers were worn down. Many people believe that the young boy tried to scratch his way out of the wall.

Berry Pomeroy Castle hauntings

Berry Pomeroy Castle is known now as the perfect romantic ruin.

There are stories about Berry Pomeroy Castle being haunted, they say by one or two woman. They say these stories often get mixed up as us not knowing whether these two spirits are somehow related as to being the same spirit.

 These stories are:  one lady is known to call for help as people pass by the ruin of the castle. It’s said she persuades people to her tower and once they go with her to the tower they fall from high up to their death.

Another spirit lady, it’s reported she wanders around Berry Pomeroy Castle grieving the loss for her child that she murdered as it was the child she conceived with her own father.

Many believe these ghosts are Lady Margaret and the other ghost is a lady from the Norman times.

Lady Margaret pomeroy is also known as the white lady and she haunts the dungeons. Lady Margaret was imprisoned down in the dungeons by her own sister Lady Eleanor. Eleanor was deeply jealous of Margaret. She was prettier and younger than Eleanor was. Margaret was locked up in the dungeons for around two decades before her older sister Eleanor let her die a slow and painful death by letting her starve.

Reported activity

A young child has spoken to one of the ghost ladies that haunts the castle.

A few couples have said that the castle is a totally different atmosphere on a night compared to the day time.

There was another couple visiting Berry Pomeroy Castle and they opened the main gate for an old fashioned car to pass in at the gate. There was an oldish lady driving this car and was wearing a large hat and scarf. When the lady visiting the castle mentioned this to her husband they both noticed that the car had disappeared.

I've also read in a magazine that a young mother visited Berry Pomeroy castle with her children and she felt so uncomfortable being there as if she was waiting for something really bad to happen. She also experienced going back in time while she was visiting.                            

Darlington Civic Theatre

                                  

Paranormal activity has been reported throughout the building for years and years and it’s still happening all the time on a regular basis.

According to many ghost stories and séances that have taken place at the Civic Theatre it’s said that Signor Rino Pepi haunts the building. He can’t seem to tear himself away from there. He loved the building so much. Many people have reported that Pepi appears in his left box right near the stage. He still wears his long black coat with a collar skirt and watches and enjoys watching the actors perform on the stage.

A figure of a woman is said to haunt the wings, but nobody knows who this lady is. There are also reports of another woman that nobody knows of; she haunts one of the dressing rooms where actors get ready to go on the stage.

A ghost of a dog has been sighted on many occasions. Most sighting of the dog is at the circle staircase. It’s mainly children that see the dog. In the early 1990s a bar extension was getting built through the staircase. A Dogs remains were uncovered.

Dressing room number 12- is reported to be haunted by a young girl named Arabella aged 12. People can sometimes hear crying from inside the room. She haunts the dressing room because she is somehow connected to the building that existed on the same spot before the theatre was built.

Above the stage- a man with the name ‘jimmy the flyman’ haunts this area. Many people can hear him with a pair of ladders just moving around and getting on with his work.

The stage- a ghost of a young woman is often seen watching dancers on stage practices their performance. It’s thought this spirit was once a dancer.

The old stage door keeper Gordon is now and again seen making sure all the doors are locked.

A lot of paranormal groups visit the Civic Theatre many times and have often caught a large amount of orbs on their night vision cameras.

Paranormal groups that have investigated the building have experienced table tipping.

Raby Castle's reported activity

                                                                

It’s been reported many times that the ghost of Charles Neville haunts Raby Castle. It’s said that the baron hall was the room where he plotted up the rising of the north. It’s also been said that Charles can be seen at the castle every single night. Many people have witnessed Charles apparition gliding up the stairs leading up to the baron hall.

Henry Vane the younger haunts the library and sometimes he’s minus his head.  Henry Vane is said to often show himself and he also tries to make a speech as if he’s making his last ever speech. As Henry was about to be executed it’s said that he was speaking so people reckon that he’s playing that final day over and over.

It’s thought that an old woman spirit haunts the corridors and halls of raby castle. People have said this is the spirit of Lady Barnard and she’s absolutely furious and enraged over her son Gilbert. Gilbert married a woman that her and her husband didn’t approve of.

I have also heard a story about a ghost that was experienced at raby castle. An old chamber maid was doing her day to day duties and she heard someone walk into the room that she was in but didn’t look up to see who it was and she felt this person go into the next room that she was going in next and there was no other entrance or exit from that room and when the maid walked into this room there was nobody in the room at all. This woman has always said she knew somebody walked in there but there wasn’t anything there.

The Tower of London's paranormal sightings

The tower of London has got one of the biggest reputations in England for being haunted. And you can see why. In the 900 years that it’s been stood there have been murders, people getting tortured, has been a home to prisoners. Hangings and beheadings have also taken place here. A lot of lives have been taken here and lots of blood has been spilt. It’s got one big bloody past. It’s no wonder how and why the tower of London is haunted.

Reported paranormal activity

The first reported sighting of a ghost from the tower of London was the spirit of Thomas A. Becket.

The inner curtain wall was having building work done and Thomas A Becket appeared rather annoyed, apparently from the building work that was getting done. It’s thought that with a strike of his cross the wall turned to rubble. It didn’t take Henry the 3^rd long to build a chapel because it was Henry the 3^rds grandfather that was responsible for Thomas A beckets death.

After Henry built the chapel there was no more ghostly sightings of Thomas Becket when builders resumed construction of the curtain wall.

 In 1483 it’s thought that the Duke of Gloucestershire commanded that Edward the 5^th and Richard Duke of York were to be killed. These two boys disappeared during the night. Nobody knows what happened to them this night.

A chest was found in 1674 by workmen at the London of tower and the chest unearthed two skeletons of young boys. It’s believed that these skeletons are from Edward and Richard.

Edward the 5^th and Richard duke of York are said to be the ghosts that are most heart rending and sad.

Lady grey Jane, Catherine Howard and Jane rochford are also said to haunt the tower of London.

Walworth castles reported activity

                                         

The lord of the manor at this time was having an affair with one of his servant girls. The servant girl eventually fell pregnant with the lord of the manor. When he found out she was expecting his child he had a fury of rage. At the time of finding out she was pregnant, lord of the manor was having building work done to the castle, and he had the servant girl walled up inside the spiral staircase. Possibly alive and still carrying his child.

Reports say that you can still hear the servant girl walking up and down the stairs which goes up to the turrets right behind the library. Many have said that they can hear footsteps around that area.

Another story that has been told for years now is that a rich lady who once owned Walworth castle, she slept with the stable boy at the time and became pregnant. It’s said that it brought shame and disgrace on her family and she was locked up in one of the turrets and it’s said that she haunts that area, the library and room 16.

                                                        REPORTED ACTIVITY

 Here is a list of some of the reported activity in some of the rooms inside the castle.

BALLROOM- people have experienced the feeling that someone is behind them. A watch alarm going off at midnight when no one has set the alarm and it’s never been set before.

MORNING ROOM/TURRET- people have heard tapping and clicking noises, felt cold spots. One person experienced pain and pressure on the left side of their head and being drawn to another room. People have also experienced being touched.

ROOM 17- A medium that visited the room sensed he could smell fire and burning and said that there had once been a fire in the room at some point. The owner confirmed that there had been a fire in the room in the past.

JENNISON SUITE-TV’s have been turned on and off, and felt a presence of a man in the corner of the room. Guests and maids that work there have experienced their clothes being tugged and hair getting pulled.

Also my partner and I stayed in the general Aylmer suite which was originally the chapel. We never experienced any paranormal activity but looking back on some photos we took it looks like ORBS to us! And we actually stood outside room 16 and we both got chills but didn’t get permission to enter as we only went to stay at the castle for the night.
